Flo Milli (Flo Milli!!!) will headline A&O Productions’ upcoming Ball concert with Dreamer Isioma opening at Metro Chicago on Thursday, May 5. Northwestern students will be able to get tickets and transportation for free through the Norris Box Office website starting at 7 p.m. tonight.
Dreamer Isioma is a Chicago-based Nigerian American artist whose debut album, Goodnight Dreamer, came out two months ago on Feb. 23. The project – and their work as a whole – focuses on telling stories by exploring by combining different genres from Afrobeats to ‘50s rock ‘n’ Roll, ‘70s funk and R&B to modern pop.
I don’t think Flo Milli needs any introduction, but here’s one anyway. She released her first single, “No Hook,” at age 16 and things exploded from there. Her remix of Playboi Carti and Ethereal’s track “Beef,” aptly called “Beef FloMix,” became wildly successful. Milli’s debut mixtape – Ho, why is you here ? – landed in the top half of the Billboard 200 and earned her a nomination for Best New Artist at the BET Hip Hop Awards.

Flo Milli even headlined 2021 Lollapalooza last year, an event that many of us as Northwestern students are familiar with, riling up the crowd with her upbeat tempo. As a member of the FloMilitia, I’m sure she’ll get the same reaction at the Ball. From my own personal experience, I know that Flo Milli’s music is the perfect tempo for running, so I’ll be sure to make it to the Ball (even if I have to go as press).
As great as the A&O Ball will be, Flo Milli’s appearance means that we can (tragically) cross her off the list of possible performers at Dillo Day this year. While I’m sure the crowd at the Ball will go crazy for her, she’s losing out on the Dillo audience of overly enthusiastic, questionably sober, super gay college students. Her loss.
