Mayfest Productions has announced Rico Nasty as its headliner for Digital Dillo 2020. Rico is known for her powerful voice and genre-bending sugar trap sound that fuses bubblegum rap with metal and punk influences.
Through singles like “Guap (LaLaLa)” and tracks like “Countin’ Up” from her 2018 tape Nasty, Rico established herself as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. Not to mention, many of her songs, including her popular single “Smack A Bitch,” have surged in popularity after finding homes on TikTok through various trends.
Following the release of Nasty, Rico secured a spot in 2019’s XXL freshman class alongside other industry powerhouses, including Megan Thee Stallion and Gunna, and snagged a feature on Doja Cat’s “Tia Tamera” before releasing her next album Anger Management with Kenny Beats.
Clocking in at less than 20 minutes, Anger Management is a jam-packed ball of energy fueled by heavy bass, trap drums and, of course, Rico’s voice, which commands every song. On tracks like “Hatin,” Rico conveys a powerful message about blocking hate as a woman in a male-dominated industry. She brings pure, unbridled power to this project that will undoubtedly transfer to Dillo Day’s (digital) stage.
“Rico’s music explores the primal, animalistic energy that each of us keeps at bay, and in a time where we feel trapped by an evil that looms larger than life, Rico provides a cathartic outlet for every time we wake up wanting to punch a hole in a wall,” said Mayfest Productions Booking Committee Member Akansha Raj in a statement. “With Rico Nasty’s set, we hope our community can let go of some of our deep-seeded frustrations and heal together.”
