Early Monday morning, the Duchess of Sussex (Comm ‘03) gave birth to a baby boy following a pregnancy shrouded in rumors and speculation. Meghan and her husband, some rando named Prince Harry, have kept up much of their privacy since the birth, though they announced on Instagram that that the boy, who is now seventh in line to the British throne, weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces. It’s unclear if Markle gave birth at the couple’s home at Frogmore Cottage, though the family is reportedly staying there now with Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland.
What’s even better than the clearly jubilant New Dad™ Prince Harry (gone is the bad boy of the early 2000s!) is the world’s response to the new royal. For many, the not-yet-named child represents a shift in royal family; born to a half-Black American mother and a Prince of Wales, he is a literal embodiment of changing times.
And something tells me that even though his mom is an alum, this kid won’t need to use that legacy connection to get into Northwestern.
