After a long day of cotton candy and bull riding at Mayfair, Mayfest Productions has announced that THE Sean Kingston is the sixth performer to join the Dillo Day 2022 lineup.
Following the rodeo-themed fair, Mayfest invited students to a bonfire, where bags containing s’more ingredients and a piece of paper that read “fire burning” – a nod to one of the artist’s hit songs – were distributed.
Though Kingston isn’t exactly a household name, I would frankly be astonished to learn that anyone who lived through the 2000s hasn’t thrown it back at least once to “Beautiful Girls” or “Fire Burning.” (The latter is one of the first songs on my “why am i the only one popping my pussy right now?” playlist for a reason.)
Like nighttime headliner Dominic Fike, the singer and rapper has also collaborated with Justin Bieber. If you are somehow not aware of the bangers mentioned above, you may know the pair’s 2010 song “Eenie Meenie” from its recent TikTok fame. Personally, I think the song is far more notable for its cover art, which features the title in a classic Microsoft Word 2007 WordArt font.
While Dillo 2022's other performers are hitmakers of today, Kingston’s fame peaked while most current undergraduates were in elementary school – but this doesn’t seem to concern many. Only a half an hour after it was shared, the Instagram post announcing Kingston’s presence at Dillo amassed nearly a hundred – overwhelmingly positive – comments.
Hopefully, shawty fire will, in fact, be burning on the dance floor this Saturday, even if Dillo is as rainy as the current forecast predicts.
