T he housing selection process can be overwhelming, so this is North by Northwestern's guide to help you out. Use the checkbox filters to see which dorms work for you, and click on the building names for photos and more information.

Filter Descriptions

Location
The dorms are organized into North, Northeast, South and Southwest areas. The walking distance from north campus to south campus is around 15-20 minutes. STEM classes are generally north, and humanities classes are generally south. Historically, North Campus has been seen as having more of a party reputation, and South Campus more of an artsy vibe. Downtown Evanston is right below South Campus.

Type of dorm
Residential halls are more like standard dorms. Residential colleges have more faculty involvement and organized programming, with multiple events throughout the week.

Amenities
All-gender housing is when anyone can share a room or suite regardless of sex and gender. Students will only be placed in an all-gender wing or suite if they opt-in.

When it comes to accessibility, not all dorms are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We do not have complete data on which residences do and do not have ADA accessible rooms, but we have included the information we know.
